    The Maui County Farm Bureau honored Kai Pelayo, the community affairs manager with Bayer-Maui, as its Member of the Year during a holiday gathering on Dec. 14 at the Kula Community Center. The organization’s other 2022 award winners were: The Hawai’i Farm Bureau also named Pelayo as its Outstanding Active Member for 2022. Pelayo has worked 40 years in the hotel industry and seven years with Bayer-Maui.       KULA, HI (Dec. 30, 2022)– For the new two-year term, the Maui County Farm Bureau retained eight directors and elected two new directors including Ethan Romanchak and Theresa Thompson. Warren K.             Data could help guide crop planning, fire management, flood risks As farmers and ranchers continue to endure droughts, invasive species and axis deer impacts, a new tool is being added to better understand and forecast Hawai‘i’s complex weather patterns.               The National Association of Conservation Districts Pacific Southwest Regional Conference will take place in Lahaina this week, highlighting cooperative efforts on many levels. Maui County Farm Bureau is one of the sponsors of the 2022 convention, to be held at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows from Sept. 7-9, 2022. “Imua—Building Capacity with Partnerships”—is the theme of the conference, which covers the Southwest and Pacific regions with close to 175 groups in all.
