The 13th Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair opens on Saturday, June 4, with the Maui Legacy Farmers Pancake Breakfast honoring four Maui farming families for their lasting contributions. Watanabe gathered to honor Woody and Carmen Goble of Goble’s Flower Farm as MCFB’s 2020 “Maui Legacy Farmers” Award honorees. MCFB’s “Maui Legacy Farmer” Award was established in 2016 to honor those in the agriculture industry on Maui for their lifetime achievement in Maui agriculture and contributions to our community. Traditionally presented at MCFB’s annual pancake breakfast at the Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair. (or at least 75 of them) MCFB is thrilled to announce our first in-person event since December of 2019. The FREE outdoor event will be held on Tuesday, August 3, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at MauiWine in Ulupalakua.                     New Country Market at Waikapū is all things Maui A few months ago, Manu Vinciguerra of Kumu Farms called to share the good news—they’re opening a bigger store in Waikapū dedicated to Maui agricultural produce and products. “We want to make AgFest happen every day at our store!” she said.  The Country Market at Waikapū officially opened on June 1 at Maui Tropical Plantation.                     Maui County Farm Bureau Hosts “Cooking Hawaiian Style”

                      “Cooking Hawaiian Style,” a locally produced television show, set up its outdoor kitchen at Kula Country Farms and Kaonoulu Ranch on the Valley Isle this week. The backdrop chosen by show director/partner Ruben Carrillo was one of Maui’s most picturesque—and most vulnerable—features: crop and ranch lands. Vast working, green space stretches from upper Kula past the Kula Ag Park in Pūlehu and Ōmaʻopio down to the central valley, which was once filled with sugarcane and is now being planted with a range of agricultural crops by Mahi Pono.
